Highlighted Weekend Events

A Howling Fun Kickoff Party
Parents, families and students are invited to attend our annual Kickoff Reception which will feature some of NC State’s best High Impact Practices (HIP). Come and meet staff from the Study Abroad Office, Career Development Center, Pre-professional programs, Undergraduate Research, Student Involvement and the Center for Student Leadership Ethics & Public Service (CSLEPS). Learn how your student’s engagement in these practices will augment your student’s college experience, transform their perspective of the world, and prepare your student for a successful future. On site we will also have a representative from the Office of Financial Aid available to discuss FAFSA and Pack Assist for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Chocolate Festival
NC State University’s sweetest tradition, the Chocolate Festival, will be held in the Talley Student Union on Friday evening. Hosted by the NC State Women’s Center, the Chocolate Festival incorporates one of America’s sweetest treats in an event that supports and educates about breast cancer. You will be able to sample a variety of different chocolate items from vendors around Wake County. There will be games to play, items to bid on and an opportunity to learn more about breast cancer awareness. Proceeds benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the NC State Women’s Center.

Family Pre-Game Event 10:00am
We are excited to host an event with a variety of entertainment, food and family-friendly activities, games and prizes for all ages, including Giant Jenga, Cornhole, live music and guest appearances by our favorite mascots. We will have many of our campus partners, VIP businesses and vendors on site to offer fun giveaways and the chance to win great prizes. A variety of game day options, sweet treats and more are all included in this event. This event is sure to have something for everyone in the family.

NC State v. Furman Football
After the Family Pre-Game Event, families will head over to the Stadium for some Pack Pride as we cheer NC State to victory as they take on Furman University. Game time has been announced for 12:20pm. This game has been designated a “Red and White” game. Ticket holders registered with Parents & Families Services will receive detailed information and tickets, inside their confirmation packet.

Memorial Bell Tower Tours
Dr. Stafford’s Memorial Bell Tower tour has become a tradition at State. This 45-minute tour will begin on the same stone steps, just outside of Holladay Hall, where the first class of NC State stood. One lucky guest will be given the key to gain the group entry and all will get a sneak peak inside our beloved Bell Tower. There will be two tour options on Sunday, September 17.

Brunch & Paint Party
Join us for an unforgettable Brunch and Paint Party in Talley Student Union on Sunday, September 17. Guests will enjoy a buffet brunch while exploring their creative side. Local artists from one of Raleigh’s most popular painting studios, Pinot’s Palette in Brier Creek, will lead attendees as we paint the Memorial Bell Tower lit up in red. Each registrant will create their own 8×10 painting to keep as a memento of your weekend here at NC State. No art experience is required and all supplies will be provided. Just come hungry and have fun!
