Bio
Tania Vargas graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages and double minors in Education and Latina/o Studies. Before joining the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at NC State University, Tania served as a college adviser with the Carolina College Advising Corps for one year and also served as a Parent Engagement Coordinator with LatinxEd for over three years. She assisted in counseling parents and their students regarding the entire college application process, selection, admission procedures, and financial aid process.
In her current position at North Carolina State University, she counsels prospective first-year and transfer students regarding admissions requirements, academic programs, and much more. She meets with students individually during 1-on-1 virtual or in-person meetings and also interacts with groups of students during private school visits, college fairs, and information sessions. She reviews the academic credentials of freshman and transfer applicants to make appropriate decisions regarding admissibility to the university. In addition, she assists with pre-college programs geared towards underrepresented groups in order to promote access for all students regardless of their background.
