Bio

Jeong Powell is the Director of International Admissions and Recruitment and oversees undergraduate international recruitment, communications, and reading and processing of first-year students and transfer international applications. She is responsible for marketing, developing, and implementing international student recruitment strategies, actions, and plans.

Before she started her role as the Director of International Admissions and Recruitment, she served as the Founding Director of the Intensive English Program (IEP) at NC State. She developed the IEP and implemented a conditional admission system as a pathway to undergraduate degree programs to increase international student enrollment. Her responsibilities also included the operations of the IEP, consisting of budgeting, coordinating, and supervising program instructions and activities.

Before working at NC State, she worked for International Special Programs at Portland State University. Also, she served as the Director of International Student Services at Florida State College at Jacksonville, where she developed the English Language Institute for international students. The English Language Institute was part of the College’s strategic plan to increase international enrollment in degree programs and internationalize the campus.
